Structurally Sound

Kitchen progress is being made. The floor is now level and the opening between kitchen and dining room opened up:

It's comforting to have a sturdy header over that opening, where there was none before. The back door was especially alarming, where some yahoo had just cut a hole. In a load bearing wall. The studs just ended at the top of the door! That? Is amazing. We now have a better solution:

I'm looking forward to having a new door in that opening in the next few days. The cat is very confused as to why I can't just let him out there.

I'm feeling exceptionally humbled and wussified by my older sister's construction prowess. All I know how to do is kill animals and stuff them into bags (sounds much tougher than Meat Packaging Professional). Anyway, I can tell it's going to be truly awesome and you deserve to enjoy it, by God. Don't let anyone (especially yourself) say otherwise...... or I'll stuff them in a bag.

Hugs and Kisses,

JC

Well, I ain't doing much now but kvetching about the mess and writing checks. My skills in this project were limited to destruction and picking out stuff. It's a little weird, because I rarely see the carpenters -- I just come home and, hey, there's a header. They're very mysterious.

Thanks for the kind words, bag-stuffer. May your TBG bags be blessed with the ultimate in oxygen-barrier protection.
