My oldest brother Beau has always had a way with little kids, even when he was one. When I was maybe four or five, he had this thing where he would take two of our many stuffed animals—I think it was a bear and dog (with floppy ears?)—and make them "talk." He had these specific funny voices for them. It was the first thing I remember laughing uncontrollably at. And I'm pretty sure that's why I love any comedian who does voices:
Katie, Phillip, and I went to see an expanded version of this live at the Varsity. She was filming that performance in hopes that it could become a sitcom. It is simply delicious. And there's a pug!
If that gets your mojo workin', check out The Ointment Interview #2 on her MySpace page. I laughed until the tears came.
A shout-out to any sibling who can remember the name of the bear and the dog!

I've totally got a Bamford crush now. I adore the sister conflict into the high school arch-enemy. Lovely.

If you get a cart, mom will buy you something. Are all sisters from Minnesota like this?
Everyone should see Maria Bamford, not just because she might make you feel good about yourself, but because she talks about sheet that you have experienced before, and she doesn't start her jokes with: the other day I was...
Brother Beau can't even remember the names of the stuffed animals.
SRC! That's so sad, but I'm glad you're checking out the blog. Yay!
Now every time I go to Target, I'll be looking for the stationary sets that match my culottes.
MC -- am I making it up, or did we go see her? In the warehouse district? Down some dark alley, with a big bottle of Mexican vanilla in my hand?
Yes, Fiffy, you were the first person I asked to drink the Bamford koolaid. (Mwa ha haa ha haAA!) It was at that comedy club in the warehouse district--she had her pug with her. Awww.
Brother Mike remembers a dog named "Hector"!!
Yes! Hector! I do remember that. Thank YOU Becky and Mike.
